Fingerprints Music

Born Michael Murchison (Murch) in Bayonne, New Jersey (NJ) USA, a Military Oceanal Terminal. I regularly traded with Sailors from Liver- pool Engl., my Motown-for their British Blues 45's. I sang & I played air-guitar with a broom, so my Mom Doris purchased a guitar for me and soon sent me for tuning lessons. At 'Max' Tavern' I met Jimmy Reed, I was fascinated, he showed me the A-barre chord fingering! My high school band APPLE CORE opened for 'Steel Mill' (now Bruce Springsteen) and for James Cotton. Cotton then hired me to tour with him. 1965 I record guitar on THE BOY FROM NEW YORK CITY with The Adlibs. 1983 I record as "Murch" on I'M GOING TO SEND YOU BACK TO YOUR MOTHER for Spivey Records. 1975 - 1988 I led MOONBEAM, my NJ band. My 1989 CHELSEA BLUES BAND initiated Terra Blues Club, where "POWERS FREQUENCY" still holds a 10pm Friday spot, and I perform solo 7pm Mondays. Track#1 '1976'-this was the year of divorce. Tracks 5, 6, 7 are my former POWDER KEG BAND. 2001 Smooth Records records my vinyl "BRICK WALL" (out of print) w/the Brian Adams' rhythm section. Baryon Records released my 1st two acclaimed CD's ONYX ROOT 2005 W.C.HandyAward nominations; then PRODIGAL SON 2007 BluesMusicAward nom's. I wrote Istanbul onstage while touring Asia. 2006 I was honored with the Eddie Durham Living Legend & Master Guitarist Award". I perform solo on a self-released DVD- 4 GUITARS. 2011 ZoHoRecords released CD REVOLUTIONARY BOOGIE. 2012 I was inducted into the "NEW YORK BLUES HALL OF FAME.
