Get your dancing anti-gravity boots on! London electropop upstarts Hot Chip are back with their follow-up to 2006's underrated The Warning. Not surprisingly, they're taking big risks that don't always pay off, which we appreciate. Leadoff single "Shake a Fist" undulates with a primal backbeat, veers into Rapture Land, lays on heavy synth belches, then, as soon as it's about to take off, stops on a dime for an exhilarating/frustrating "sounds of the studio" sample breakdown. Crazy, yet beautiful.
