Despite having worked in bands led by such towering figures as John Coltrane and Stan Getz, pianist Steve Kuhn has remained one of the great unsung jazz pianists. In 1986, Kuhn formed a trio with bassist Ron Carter and drummer Al Foster for a live recording at the Village Vanguard. Now, 20 years later, Kuhn makes his Blue Note Records debut by reconvening this formidable trio for another live recording - this time a remarkable set of standards and originals captured in the summer of 2006 at the renowned club, Birdland.
