Alt-rock is nearly unimaginable without the influence of these '70s power-pop pioneers. Now, surviving members Alex Chilton and Jody Stephens have recorded the band's first studio album since 1978, along with Ken Stringfellow and Jon Auer of Seattle indie-poppers the Posies, who've rounded out the Big Star lineup live since 1993.
